VIN is the abbreviation for Vehicle Identification Number, or Frame number. Since 1991 all VIN numbers contain 17 digits.
If a machine has been registered for road use and has a Registration Document, the VIN number can be found on the inside of the first page. See example 1 below. All Road and MotoCross machines have the VIN number stamped on the right side of the steering headstock. Some models also have a small rectangular plate riveted to the frame. See example 2 below.
